On Sunday, January 18, 2009, the Rev. Dr. Greg Mohr, Assistant to the Bishop, received a cheque of $500 from the Chairperson of Oakridge Lutheran Church, Hannelore Gerlach, for the BC Synod of our Church. This extra gift to our Synod was part of a tithe from an estate given to Oakridge Lutheran. The rest of the tithe was given to the Lutheran Urban Mission Society for its work in the downtown east-side of Vancouver, and to the Global Hunger and Development Appeal for use in Haiti.

Nathan Fong has accepted a call at Grace Lutheran Church in Burnaby. His ordination was held at New Life Chinese Lutheran Church in Vancouver on March 15, 2009.

The installation of Rev. Nathan Fong as pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Burnaby, was celebrated on Sunday, March 29, 2009. Rev. Marlys Moen, dean of the Greater Vancouver Conference, officiated. Three former congregational pastors and one former interim minister attended the event.

The Ordination of Kristen Steele, who has accepted a call at The Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Langley. The Ordination was held at Our Saviour in Richmond.
June 26 - 28, 2009
This is the Youth Delegation at National Convention and Bishop Mark Hanson (presiding bishop of the ELCA) and Bishop Munib Younan (bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jordan and the Holy Land). BC participants were Bronwyn Nestegaard Paul (Grace Lutheran, Victoria) and Ryan Buhrig (Mt. Olive, White Rock). The group was facilitated by Peter Reinhardt (King of LIfe, Coquitlam) and Pastor Kristen Steele (Shepherd of the Valley, Langley).
